Designed to give your child an overview of careers in architecture and construction, this introductory Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective is a member of the Architecture and Construction career cluster which provides students in grades 9-12 with a look at designing, planning, managing, building, and maintaining “the built environment,” which encompasses all zones of human activity ranging from natural conservation areas with minimal human intervention to highly dense areas with tall skyscrapers and intricate highway systems. Throughout the semester-long course, students discover that the interrelated components that make up the built environment are as varied and unique as the professionals who help shape it. Purchase of this individual Monarch course grants access to one child for 18 months beginning on the date of activation.

Learn about the planning that goes into construction projects before they begin! In Introduction to Careers in Architecture and Construction, students in grades 9-12 learn about residential and commercial construction, green developments, zoning, urban sprawl, construction site safety, and visualization and design of construction projects.
By the end of the semester-long course, students gain an understanding of the responsibilities in the industry, as well as the unique factors that impact each individual construction project.
